Aloe Vera is soothing and hydrating and has natural antibacterial, antioxidant, and antifungal properties (psst, bacteria is what makes your pits stink!). Bonuns, your skin absorbs Aloe Vera faster than water and in turn, Aloe Vera helps your skin retain its moisture. We use USA-grown, organic, cold pressed, whole leaf aloe vera that is never, ever tested on animals.
Organic Bergamot, in addition to its refreshing and uplifting scent known to build confidence and enhance mood, has antiseptic and antibacterial properties that stop the growth of odor-causing bacteria. We love using bergamot in our formulas because it harmonizes other essential oils beautifully.
Organic Cedarwood has a deep and uniquely rich, mellow scent. With an aroma that appeals to both men and women, Cedarwood is said to be an aphrodisiac and its grounding aroma makes it a preferred meditation aid.
Organic Clary Sage is used to control excessive sweating and helps regulate the over-production of sebum, the oily matter your skin’s exocrine glands secrete, and a tasty snack for bacteria. Clary Sage’s antiseptic, anti-microbial, astringent, and disinfectant properties curb the growth and spread of bacteria while remaining calming and soothing to the skin. Its scent is known to produce a mildly intoxicating sense of euphoria, leaving you feeling confident and relaxed.
Indian Jasmine has a warm, appealing scent that within holistic aromatherapy applications, is said to ease nervous tension. Its aroma is uplifting yet calming and can encourage a restful state of mind.
Organic Italian Lemon smells exactly how you think it would - zesty and uplifting! It is said to help sharpen the mind and the peel is high in vitamins A, B and C. Because the limonene naturally occurring in lemon essential oil can cause skin irritations in some, we use it in moderation to avoid sensitization while still taking advantage of its power antibacterial and astringent properties.
Magnesium Chloride (Zechstein Sea) is a compound of the mineral magnesium, and the essential electrolyte, chloride. The magnesium chloride we use is harvested directly from seawater and is known to improve mood, relieve stress, and encourage healthy skin tissue. It is estimated that over 80% of us are deficient in magnesium which is essential for the normal functioning of cells, nerves, muscles, bones, and the heart. The benefits of magnesium chloride are best achieved when applied topically to the skin. If you experience tingling when you apply PRIMARY, you can probably blame the magnesium. It's a totally normal reaction if you are, in fact, deficient in magnesium and should subside with regular use. We use pure, undiluted magnesium chloride, so if you have sensitive skin, or find that the tingling feels more like stinging, you can dilute the spray with 25% distilled water.
Italian Blood Orange has a warm heavenly scent and encourages a sunny outlook and is uplifting to the spirit.
Organic Sri Lanka Patchouli has a mellow scent that isn't as easily identifiable as other cultivations. We use it in small proportions to give a rich, earthy, mysterious depth to the blend.
Polysorbate 80 is used as an emulsifier and a surfactant in pharmaceuticals, vitamins, cosmetics and food (often added to ice cream to make the consistency smoother). We use a small amount of food grade Polysorbate 80 to help the essential oils blend into the formula. The main concern with Polysorbate is the potential contaminant with ethylene oxide and 1,4 dioxane. The potential for contamination is less likely with the use of food grade Polysorbate 80
Propanediol is a skin friendly preservative derived from the fermentation of corn sugar. EWG ranks its health concerns as low. It's considered a safe ingredient for both cosmetic and food products.
Sustainably Grown Sandalwood (New Caledonia) in addition to having a beautiful, calming scent, has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties and is a mild astringent to help cleanse and soothe the skin.
(This essential oil was ethically sourced under the strict guidelines of the New Caledonia government Forestry Commission. New Caledonia has registered quota volumes and for each mature tree cut, 5 seedlings are replanted).
Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate a natural amino acid made from coconut oil. It’s very mild, but also very effective. It’s Whole Foods Premium Body Care approved which helps validate our confidence in the safety of the ingredient.
White Grapefruit has natural antibiotic properties and has been a proven ability to fight a host of common infections and is effective against strains of bacteria + contains properties that may help activate the lymphatic system to clear toxins.
Witch Hazel extract, distilled from the twigs and bark of the Witch Hazel tree (Hamamelis virginiana), naturally soothes and cleans the skin without upsetting your natural moisture balance.
Zinc Ricinoleate is the zinc salt obtained from castor seed oil. Zinc ricinoleate works to deodorize by absorbing odor without interfering with the natural flora of the skin. (If you're wondering if zinc ricinoleate contains the toxic compound ricin, the answer is no—Ricin is water soluble and does not dissolve in castor seed oil! )
